View Individual Discussion Topic Posts

View a topic from the Discussions tool

  1. On the nav bar, click the Activities menu, then select Discussions.

  2. On the Discussions List page, click on the name of the discussion topic.
    Note: In the Forums & Topics List, the number of unread messages appears beneath each topic. If you have the discussions list pane visible, you can see topics with unread messages in bold.
  3. The properties of the discussion topic related to availability, locking information, and any other details set by an instructor, are listed directly below the name of the discussion topic.

  4. From the Filter by drop-down list, select an option by which you can sort the individual discussion posts.
  5. Click on a thread title to read the student’s post. Each thread and reply will be date and time stamped, and include the number of words (All words in a discussion post are counted and include filler words such as “the,” “if,” and “to.” ) Word count appears inline with the post details in the Discussions Reading View and Grid View. Instructors can view the word count for all user posts.

View a topic from the Content tool

  1. On the nav bar, click Content.

  3. Click on the name of a discussion topic.

    Note: You cannot view the properties of the discussion topic when you view the topic using the Content tool.
